I "harvested" these takeout wrappers from our home and wove them on an oversized heddle (of the style traditionally used to weave patterned bands out of wool) before passing the strip through a press to flatten it. The result feels almost like a new material, remarkably strong and full of character, and retaining some of the look of the original materials. I can imagine using this technique again to form basket handles or strips that could be stitched edge to edge. (Mounting threads in unframed detail image are not visible in the final framed piece.)
